Strong Spirit Strong Mind Youth Project

 

The Strong Spirit Strong Mind Youth Project aims to raise awareness of the harms associated with alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues & improve social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) among young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families and communities across Western Australia.

The Project focuses on young people aged 12 to 25 years and encourages these young Aboriginal people to develop the knowledge and attitudes to choose healthy lifestyles, promote healthy environments and create safer communities.

Project Activities

  • The Stronger You, Stronger Mob, Prevention Campaign,
  • Strong Spirit Strong Mind Community Grants,
  • An Aboriginal Youth Reference Group,
  • Targeted AOD and SEWB strategies for young Aboriginal people

Stronger You, Strong Mob

The Stronger You, Stronger Mob campaign is a public education campaign which aims at preventing and delaying the early uptake of alcohol and other drugs and improving the social and emotional wellbeing of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across WA.

The campaign sets out to increase awareness of the risks/harms associated with alcohol and other drug use and improve social and emotional wellbeing. It is now live!

SSSMYP Community Grants

SSSMYP Community Grants are available to support Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Aboriginal not-for-profits to deliver culturally secure initiatives, events and programs to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.

These grants are aims to promote Aboriginal ways of working and assist program delivery in the community. Please note applications are currently closed right now.
